Oregon Brittany Rescue

Why adopt a rescue brittany? If you choose to adopt one of our dogs you will be receiving a wonderful animal, that due to no choice of his or her own has come to the caring people of Brittany Rescue. We in turn look for compassionate people such as you to give homes to these great dogs. By taking a rescue Brittany you have saved this animal from a very miserable life and most likely death. If it weren't for people like you we could not continue to do the job that we do. All we ask is that you just give this dog the time and love that he or she deserves. We know that this is not an easy task. Some of these dogs have several problems to over come, but with just the slightest love and care we have seen wonderful results. Please remember this is a very confusing time for this animal, so take everything very slowly and use lots of love and praise. It may be that this is the first time some of our dogs have received affection at all. If at anytime you need our assistance please feel free to call any of our rescue people for help or advice. your new friends at Oregon Brittany Rescue.

Adoption fees: The fees range from zero to $300 depending on the dogs age or special needs. Most of the dogs are around $150. The average age of our dogs is 1 to 3 years, but we often get in the older dogs that still make great pets.

What type of dogs do we normally have: Most of ours dogs are dogs that were purchased as cute puppies and the people had no idea they are getting a high energy hunting breed. They don’t bother to take the dogs through obedience or any type of training and when the puppy is no longer small and cute it is put outside and left to be on its own. When the family finally decides they have their hands full with an out of control young Brittany, they will take them to the shelters or call us to take their dogs. Most of the dogs are very friendly, but full of energy and have limited manners. All of these dogs make great pets, they just need to get into an obedience class and get one on one training from their new owners. Most of them respond very fast when attention and a little love are given to them.

DOGS AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION:

. Orange and White Male 7 yr old Riley is a surrender due to aging owners inability to keep him. This guy is a lover and easy keeper, good dog for any family. Just wants to be loved!ADOPTED

Liver and White 1-1/2 yr old male. Very friendly, was a family dog. His owner had health issues and couldn't keep him. Just needs some obedience training and he will be the dog you have always wanted.

Orange and White female 2 to 3 found running at large - all of our efforts have failed to find her owners so she is now up for adoption. We call her Niki and she is a love, a bit weary at first but warms up quickly. Niki's best friend is another dog she has adopted. Riley is a 7 yr. old male. The two would make a great pair for any family. Since we don't know how Niki is around younger children we think she would be best with older children. They can go as a pair or she can go alone.ADOPTED

Two nine year old veterans: They have never been apart and the male is blind, the female is his best friend. They are very friendly and love attention. They have never been house dogs, but we think they could be trained to be house dogs. They are not barkers and with the proper facilities could continue to be outside only dogs. We are desperate to find them a new and loving home. They are both spayed and neutered one is orange and white, the other is an orange roan. They are both purebred Brittany’s

One female: that we think is around 2 to 3 years; Missy is a very special case. Missy was not socialized as a young dog so she is very fearful. Missy has never offered to bite, but we will not place her with children due to the fact she is afraid of everything and we think children would just be too much. She will need a very kind and caring owner. Missy will let us hold her and she will eat snacks from our hand but when you reach for her she will move away. She will lie down in a corner to be picked up. We do have her crate trained, but she is afraid to go for walks. Missy’s comfort zone is our house and patio. We are working on walking on a lead with her. We think she has the optional of being a great companion dog, but doubt if she will ever be able to be hunted. Missy is an orange and white pure bred Brittany.ADOPTED
