Oregon Brittany Rescue

Oregon Brittany rescue started over 15 years ago and was formed by reputable and conscientious show and field breeders who were concerned about the many Brittany’s showing up in the shelters in Oregon.

We are a small group of people working together to help the Brittany’s that need to find new forever homes.
We are very successful in placing our dogs into new homes, normally we only have a few at any time.

Most of our foster homes are in the Portland area or the Valley. We do not sell the dogs but do ask for a donation so that we can give medical care for the ones that we take in that are it need of Veterinary services. Why and how we need to charge: There is no set pricing; everything depends on the dog’s condition when we get the animal. It also can depend on if the dogs been spayed or neutered, needs shots or other Vet care. We have to go by age and trainability. Some dogs are very shy and need more TLC, some are just out going busy puppies or young dogs that were too much for an older owner that didn't research our breed properly. Some people impulse buy, thinking want a cute puppy. After they purchase the puppy they find out puppies grow, need to be trained and they need exercise. By this time the dog is out of control, so off it goes to the shelter. The cute puppy is now a big Brittany and it just doesn't suit their life style. Older dogs over the age of 8 years, generally go for less because they are harder for us to place. They are much calmer, but do have a shorter life span, but remember Brittany’s normally live to 14 or 15 years of age with good Vet care. . We want to place all of our dogs in loving homes, if we just gave them away then we would be doing the breed an injustice and mostly likely see some of them come back. The first time there is trouble the new owner would just take the dog to the nearest shelter. When we place our dogs we want this to be that dog’s forever home, not just another home that doesn't really care. Some of our dogs that need medication and extra attention we do place for free but ask or a donation to help the next dog in need. We hope this helps adopters understand why we charge and why I can't be specific about a price. Normally a young healthily dog male or female under 5 years of age is a donation of around $200 to $300. Oregon Brittany rescue is not in this to make money; all of the donations we receive go back into helping Brittany's in need.

Oregon Brittany Rescue works well with both American Brittany Rescue, if you are interested in one of the dogs on their web site please contact them at their web pages. We do receive notice of the people in Oregon who have applied for dogs in case we have something here in the state.
